Hammers started swinging again Friday morning at a Habitat for Humanity housing project in Kitchener.
The 2012 construction season kicked off with a ceremony thanking sponsors Manulife Financial, Home Depot Canada Foundation, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Highland Road United Church.
After the 9:30 a.m. party, leaders from the sponsors were invited to help build six homes at 23 Howe Dr.
When the Howe Drive complex is complete in 2013, there will be 16 condominium homes owned by low-income families who helped build them and carry a mortgage. Work on the project started in 2010.
When complete, the complex will mark 100 homes built by the Waterloo Region chapter of Habitat for Humanity since 1989.
